My early recollection of TYLS was seeing The Beach Boys singing When I Grow Up wearing those striped shirts that was their tradmark back then and that was in 1964 Grin

The Golden Era of Irish Showbands published back in 1994 by Paddy Brennan of The Limerick Rock N Roll Club.Full of facts all from the pen of Paddy with help from Eddie Kelly so if you read it here you can take it that it is gospel.Did you know that the original verion of Joe Dolans Tar and Cement was done by Francois Hardy.I have a version which was a small hit in the U.S.of A for a girl called Verdelle Smith back in 66 a full year before Joe.That last piece of useless information cannot be found in the book only in my record collection.

I recently bought a CD set of '60's showbands songs. It was compiled and annotated by Eddie Kelly. Some good tracks on it too.  Smiley

Hi All,

Interesting bit trivia about Shutters and Boards. As far as I know the lyric for that song was written by none other than war hero turned movie star Audie Murphy.
