Eurovision Song Contest

Click here for: Irish National Song Contest 1965-1990

No discussion of the Irish music scene can be complete without reference to the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Below is a listing of every Irish entry since they joined the contest in 1965. The first Eurovision was held in 1956 and although nearly ten years "late" to the party, Ireland has won more Eurovision contests than any other country, including England. In fact, Ireland has taken the top spot four times since 1990, and placed in the top ten nine times over the same period.

By the way, Johnny Logan has won for Ireland twice as a performer, in 1980 and again in 1987. He also wrote three entries, one for himself and two for Linda Martin who won in 1992. Brendan Graham has more Eurovision entries with four, but he and Johnny are tied with two winners each!

Where available, a link has been created to a website which features the artist. Click on the performer's name. Unfortunately, not all the performers have sites.
