Where Are They Now?
The Story
Like all Belfast-based bands from the early showband era, our
ability to research the Billy McFarland Showband's history
has been hampered by the fact that the digital archives for the
Belfast Telegraph only go back as far as 1976. The first
reference we found for the band was from July, 1961 in the Abbey
Ballroom in Drogheda. We're pretty sure Billy started prior to this
in the Belfast area.
