Where Are They Now?
The Story
The
Derry-based Hollywood Stars were launched by manager Jack Finlay with a half-page
advert in Spotlight announcing their debut gig in Balla, Co.
Mayo on March 14th, 1975 although the first mention of
them we found was in the Jasman column from the Kerryman
newspaper on February 14th. We're not sure about their lineup as it
was listed by the characters they
purported to play on stage including Jimmy Conway (Charlie Chaplin-guitar), a
brunette Marilyn
Monroe (vocals), The Godfather (trumpet), Napoleon (keyboards),
Robin Hood (bass), Julius Caesar (sax), and Davy Crockett (drums). A
better name might have been the "History Stars."
