Where Are They Now?
The Story
The first reference we can find to
the band Tequila Sunrise with Joanna Reynolds was in
November, 1982. The band had recently returned from Mexico where
band leader Andy Farrell had gotten a contract to play in 1977.
Tequila Sunrise was being managed John Egan who was also managing
the band Tweed at the time. Early on the band seemed to play quite a
few cabaret gigs in the Dublin area, including a weekly Wednesday
night residency in the St. Lawrence Hotel in Howth as well as the
venues like the Sportsmen's Inn and Murray's Lounge In Lusk. With
the dwindling number of ballroom gigs around the country, this was
pretty common especially for Dublin based bands. However, the band
was also playing ballroom gigs up and down the country as well.
The band appears to have started
as a seven piece which was more than the usually 5-6 piece norm at
the time. Based on photos we have seen, they appeared to fluctuate
with 6-8 members.
