CommentsReally happy to find this page available, brings back great memories.i was involved in the scene many years ago and still doing so in usa today.I was in the ballad scene with a group from Cork called The McTeggarts who are still going today.
What are the chance of bringing out a book on all the ballad groups of that time.
In Boston we have a whole bunch of people who played with alot of groups at home in the 60's and 70's
Keep up the great work.
Answer: Thanks Tom, I'm not sure about a book, but we
are definitely interested in building our collection of folk groups.

CommentsWhat a great website, I have only just found it. I am currently working in a very successful five piece Irish Band based here in The UK, but we are just very fortunate, because people here are more and more getting totally fed up with paying their very hard earned cash to get in to a club/venue only to discover that the act booked to play on stage is one or two people singing to backing tracks which is no more than a very expensive and glorified Karaoke Night!
There must be a whole generation now who have never seen a full "LIVE" band playing together, most of them wouldn't have a clue how the drums and bass work together to keep it all tight, or how rhtyhmn section compliment the vocals with the lead instruments being the icing on the cake, which makes you wonder about the future of our fabulous industry,or if we have one?. I will stop there before I get to deep, but I am sure you all know where I am coming form".to coin a phrase" Keep Music Live, Long Live The Showbands. P.S We're not dead yet!
Answer: Hi Pat, wish we knew your last name and had an
email address, but one way or another thanks for "keeping it live"
and for stopping by the website. One good thing about the backing
tracks, it's better than a disco...one of the main reasons the scene
died.

CommentsHi ,
I am fan of Maria Christian with his song " Wait until the weekend comes " ( Eurovision 1985 ) , especially his voice , she is so beautiful to me...I'm looking to buy this song or Maria Christian's cd ( , if it exist...) . There is nothing so frustrating as searching for records or old records you aren't sure exist . Could you help me ? If you have any information about Maria Christian's life or career , please email me . I ask myself where she is now , the Eurovision star of the past ? After the contest , what did she do ? Did she release a new recording or international album , or did she start a solo career ? " Wait until the weekend comes " is a very beautiful song , i was greatly convinced this song was the most promising , the obvious winner , but unfortunately...
Maria Christian is a truly marvelous singer , with an intense , passionate singing style that really soars with the right material . It's a shame she isn't better known in France .
Any information would be greatly appreciated .
Best Regards .
Answer: Hi Nguyen, and thanks for stopping by the website.
Unfortunately, we do not have any information about Maria, although we
appreciate your interest. We suggest to post a query on our free bulletin boards
and we will try our best to uncover more information about her career. Good luck
in finding her music and thanks again for visiting our website. Anyone else know
what happened to Maria?
