The Carnival in Balla was first advertised in 1919 and appeared to have run until 1923, but it was only a short three day event.
The event would not resurface e until 1958 when (according to local papers) the town went "gay for festival" (not the same meaning
as today). It appears the festival ran for nearly a half of a century and was renamed the Balla Hyper Festival. The last
reference to the festival we found was around 2000, but we can't confirm whether there was a dancing diary associated
with the festival by then.
