Unlike the massive purpose built ballrooms which sprung up in the fifties and sixties, this hall is an example of the small halls
which dotted the Irish countryside in small towns and villages which became the locals only connection to the showband era.
Even though the big bands never played here, local showbands kept dancers going and the hall is still used today for jiving classes
other local functions. The two photos are from 2009 (lower) and 2011 showing the hall before and after its renovation.
