Opened on April 30th, 1965, the Arch Ballroom in Tallow was part of Con Hynes' Associated Ballrooms chain. Opening night
featured the sounds of Donie Collins "and the boys." Located in the heart of the town, the ballroom was likely to see crowds of
up to 1,000 dancers in its heyday.
Fortunately, the ballroom has survived the decades and is currently in use as the Tallow Community Centre where
dances are still held on a regular basis (see photos below). It is a pity more ballrooms of the era haven't been
retained by their local communities.
