Isaac Butt Hall, Ballybofey
Built in 1919 and opened on July 22, 1920,
(see below) the Isaac Butt Memorial Hall was the size of a modern bungalow at
just over 1200
square feet when it first opened. Dancing became an important factor to the hall
in the 1930's but was still just monthly.
Following World War II, a maple floor added and
dancing became the lifeblood of the hall. During the 1950's through the 80's it
was a major mecca for dancing as well as every
other kind of entertainment for the area. Today, the hall is used for youth clubs and still hosts the occasional dance.
It has
recently been totally refurbished (below).
