Like many hotels in the early days of the showband era, the Gleneagle was expanding rapidly to take advantage of
the renewed interest in tourism and dancing in the early 1960's. The ballroom was first built during the winter of 1961
and then expanded just six months later. The new ballroom, which could accommodate 1,000 patrons, opened on July 6th, 1961..
Over the years, the ballroom had played host to some of the biggest names in not only the showband era, but International
stars as well. Today the Gleneagle boasts several ballrooms which often host multiple events on the same night.
