Top Hat Ballroom, Fermoy, Co. Cork
Opened on
December 17th, 1970, the Top Hat was one of the major ballrooms in the rural
South. A press release
at the time described the ballroom as being "one of the newest and most
up-to-date ballrooms in the county.
Situated in pleasant rural surrounding, but still verging on the urban districts
of the town of Fermoy,
the exterior of the Top Hat is most attractive with ample outer display
lighting.
The approach to this new luxury ballroom is straight through the main street in
Fermoy.
It is immediately and easily accessible by a large section of the dancing
community of a wide and varied clientele in County Cork.
The ballroom closed many years ago and although people have said it is part of
the Supervalu which sits on the site,
sadly, we can see no trace of the facade or roof of the old ballroom on Google
Earth.
