CommentsHi from Canada, Just found your website and found out that you dont have Emilie Croft ( blues singer and painist ) on your extensive list. She sang and
played with Jimmy Compton and with The Stan Lynn Showband and was manager for the Stan Lynn Showband from its inception in 1955 until 1964 when she retired to manage a Hotel in Donaghadee. She later emigrated to Canada where she still lives. Stan Lynn is also in Canada and they are still the best of friends. Best of luck with your website, it brings back memories.

CommentsHi great site. I also recently picked up a cry before dawn lp 'crimes of consience'. being born in v early 80's I don't think I would/ or have remembered this great wexford band but it sure blows most irish rock I've heard in my life out the water (especially modern commercial export) . Very good sounding even today it does not transpose as v dated whatsoever and I felt that the track 'girl in the ghetto' was legendary stuff. I mean, it's rare that I myself hear such a vicious emotional vocal from bands anywhere on the world (now or of times gone by)- It's always priceless to find them, but being Irish it really made me think, this is extremely cool and I like the album a lot. Sound as a punt was before the poxy euro.
Best wishes and keep up the nice posts/ good internet.

CommentsGreat site!! I was delighted to see a band called Dingle Spike from Kerry mentioned in The Folk section. I spent many years following these guys all over the world basically. They played a lot in London at the Swan in Stockwell and The Archway Tavern, but also in Ireland in the 70s and 80s, and later in Germany and Boston, when i lived there. They were certainly one of the most popular groups in London, but equally popular when they lived and played in Ireland. If anyone has any pics of that group it would certainly stir up some nostalga for the returned Irish immigrants like myself. Thanks again for this wonderful site!! Regards-James

CommentsGreat web site, fond memories of the showbands in the North West. Roy Addinell lived close to me in Belmont, Derry/Londonderry.His sons went to school with me. Do you have any idea where Roy lives today? At the time of the 'Troubles,' I think they returned to England. I recall their touring van, and their trips were to many parts of Ireland. I also remember Roy playing his music in the house. Sometimes of course he did not rise until late afternoon.
I would be grateful for any information you may have on the wherabouts of the Addinells.
thanks for the trip down memory lane.

CommentsWhat a fantastic site!! Brings back great memories for me Of the Lilac Ballroom in Carndonagh and nearby Ballyliffin in the mid seventies. Used to go home to Ireland and my cousins would drag me off to watch Big Tom and Philomeana Begley Great fun. One day we noticed a very sultry poster (anyone who saw it will know) as a 17 year old we just had to go and see who this group was. It was Culdaff arms I think and the group was the Memories. I think one of your posters said they played Bohemian rapsody. I say If you had shut your eyes it would have been hard to tell it was not Queen and yes they did the full song. They also played Elo and most of the current hits of the day. What a group! Almost 28 years later My Two friends who were with me still talk of the Memories, both the group and of the venues. Great days.
Answer: Hi Sean. You're right about the Memories...one
of the best of the era. It was sad to see lead singer Jim Barry
retire last year, although the band can still be seen from time to
time. We hope to have an in depth feature about them soon-stay
tuned.

we get enough interest, we'd love to feature them in their own area
