CommentsHi!
I work as a Researcher on the TV3 chat show series - The Brendan Courtney Show. We have Jim Bartley from Fair City on our programme on Monday and we would love to show some Raindrops memorabilia on the programme.
Does anyone have any Raindrops memorabilia?
Would it be possible to kindly 'borrow' your Raindrops memorabilia for the show? We can get you a ticket for the show and give you a copy of the show - after it is broadcast.
It would be brilliant if you could please reply to me sometime today.
I have listed my contact details below. Please feel free to telephone or email me at any time.
I'll look forward to receiving your reply.
Best Wishes

CommentsHi
I've just discovered your web-site and it's brought back many memories of when I lived in Ireland. My family owned the 24hr filling station on the Athlone Rd, Kinnegad, Co.Westmeath. I met lots of showbands passing through on their way to gigs in Galway, Clare & Mayo. We sold up after my late father (the 'captain') became ill & we moved back to the U.K. I will be a frequent visitor of your site now. It's great to see what all the bands are doing (or not!). How can I find out about where band members are now as I used to be mates with some of them?
Thanks
Trisha

CommentsI have publicity photos of folk singers and groups from 1967-1968 that I would be willing to share. They include the Emmet-Spiceland, The Blarney Folk, The Croppies, The Pathfinders, Denis McGrath, Jim McCann, The Platterman (pop), and a little known American duo, Night & Day (myself and my friend, Nina!). If you are interested, I will scan and send them to you. Let me know where to send them. I am especially interested in "Where are they now?" for the folk groups. It seems you only have the dance band info. I would love to reconnect with some friends from the folk clubs. Barbara (Smyth) Joyce, Collingswood, NJ.

CommentsBrendan McCarthy gave me your contact address. Billy Conway had the Ascot Showband and played in the Limerick area in the 1970s. He opened for most of the major showbands at venues such as the Stella and the Jetland. He also played with the English touring outfits such as Acker Bilk and Terry Lightfoot. His lead guitarist, Declan Bourke left to run a bar in the English mid-lands. Does anyone know where he is today? Billy was revered by many of the young musicians of the time and some, such as Harry Hockedy still play around Limerick. Unfortunately Billy passed away in April 2002. His grandson, David, aged 16, has now picked up the batten - as a lead rock guitarist - and has his own band named Soloway. Congratulations on the web site. It is excellent. Well done. Michael Conway

CommentsJust found the site as it was a quiet sports news day, I travvelled the roads too not ....I have to say in the 60s or 70s but definatly in the 80s and 90s...its great to see the bands that used to play the GAA club in Omagh during the eighties where I worked and got to know so many....Joanna, Rock Stewart, The Momories and the Brush....mighty times and mighty bands......best ever band well The Memories took some beaten but during the 85-86 years The Plattermen were not far of the mark.....again great to see the old bands and the characters in them.
